Sometimes people say stupid things in the form of questions. Often I find it difficult to even respond to these stupid questions. Today gave me a perfect example in the form of a conversation that I overheard.

A man walks up to someone and asks a simple question: “Were the bathroom?” Instead of giving simple directions, the person responds with another question: “Men’s?”

The man asking the question today was polite and responded with a polite, “YES”, and then was give the simple information. It made me think, what if the gentlemen had responded differently? What if he would have said “no the women’s please”, perhaps that would have given us another example of the stupid things that people say.

NEW AND IMPROVED …..

I’m sure the saying “NEW AND IMPROVED” is the invention of some marketing firm that is extremely proud of themselves – (and overly compensated). You may have heard it on one of those late night infomercials. It goes something like this, “I’d like to introduce you to the NEW and IMPROVED gadget that I would like to sell you for three easy payments of 24.99 plus 99.99 shipping and handling.”

When you say something is new, you are implying that it has not been created before or used before thus it is “NEW”. However, to IMPROVE something you need to modify it in some way. So…. Improve something it, by definition, cannot be NEW. So the way I see it, you can have a new product or an improved product or perhaps even a newly improved product but you can not have a NEW AND IMPROVED anything. And yet, it is quoted as a realistic possibility, just another example of the stupid things that people say. Have a great week.

Monday mornings seem to be a little more enjoyable when you start the day laughing at other people. I will be posting a new saying ever Monday morning. Allowing us to start the week with a little humor by looking at the stupid things people say.

Supid Things to Say … Can I Borrow …?

This has got to be one of the most Stupid things to say. Dictionary.com defines borrow as “to take or obtain with the promise to return the same or an equivalent: Our neighbor borrowed my lawn mower.”

And yet people. almost without thinking, misuse the word. A good case in point is when someone asks you to “borrow” a tissue. Do they really intend to “return the same or equivalent”? When is the last time you got a call from a friend saying they were in the neighborhood and just wanted to see if they could stop by and drop off the tissue they borrowed? If you have, please leave a comment because it has never happen to me. Just another example of the stupid things people say.

Supplies are Limited

It’s humorous and a little scary how often I hear this saying. In everything from vacuum cleaner infomercials to concert tickets. Often it’s used in an attempt to get you to buy something and buy it now because “SUPPLIES ARE LIMITED.” What makes this a stupid comment is even if you had 100 million of an item; you would still be able to say: “Supplies are Limited.” EVERYTHING is limited. If anyone can think of something that is unlimited, please post a comment. Until then, the next time you hear someone say tickets are limited or limited space available, sit back, smile and enjoy the humor in the stupid things people say.

Almost “Exactly” the Same

How can something be “ALMOST” exactly the same? They can be “ALMOST” the same and maybe even “EXACTLY” the same but how can they be almost exactly the same…..THEY CAN’T. Just an example of stupid things people say.
